New City is partnering with Urban Promise Charlotte again this year to host the Christmas Promise Shop. We still need volunteers for the shop for Urban Promise West on December 11. Click here to volunteer.
Roof Above is looking for volunteers to help provide lunches, cookies and in-kind donations for their 130 winter overflow nightly guests. These opportunities are not only great for groups but are also great for families and individuals as well!

The Gladedale Learning Center is OPEN with new times and tutors are still needed! The tutoring sessions are Mondays and Thursdays from 5:00-6:00 pm for elementary students and 6:30-7:30 pm for middle school and high school. NC MedAssist is a nonprofit pharmacy providing access to lifesaving prescription medications, patient support, advocacy and related services to vulnerable and uninsured North Carolina residents. MedAssist currently needs volunteers to help sort and organize daily medication deliveries. Click here to register to volunteer.
Second Harvest, a distribution warehouse providing food to charitable organizations in the Charlotte Region, needs volunteers to inspect, sort, and pack donated products so that they can be distributed to 700 partner agencies including homeless shelters, emergency pantries and soup kitchens. In September, Urban Promise began their fall session providing support for local youth with spiritual, academic, and social support. New City is providing snack bags for the children who attend. Seventy snack bags are needed every Monday through Thursday when school is in session. This is an excellent way for families or community groups to serve without having to be out in public. We have two slots available to provide 35 snack bags each day. If you are sharing this project with others, feel free to sign up for both slots on a given day. Roof Above needs volunteers to provide bagged lunches for temporary shelters in motels and dorm rooms as well as for their soup kitchen. Click here and scroll down to "New Temporary Shelter Support" to sign up.

ABOUT: Common Heart is a grassroots organization in Union County that serves neighbors in need.
NEED: Common Heart has an emergency “on-call” system for delivery drivers and food pantry volunteers. In the event that a scheduled volunteer cancels, an on-call volunteer will be called to see if they are available to fill in, sometimes at the last minute. Click here to sign up to volunteer.

FORCLT has been honored to build and lead the CharMeck Responds Coalition, bringing together local churches along with many other nonprofits and organizations to serve our community during these unprecedented times. The coalition of over 200 organizations has been working tirelessly to ensure no one in our city goes without, but even as the phased reopening begins, the needs are as great as ever. The American Red Cross faces a severe blood shortage due to an unprecedented number of blood drive cancellations during the coronavirus outbreak. Healthy individuals are needed to donate now to help patients counting on lifesaving blood, platelets or AB Elite plasma. The US Surgeon General has asked healthy adults to consider giving blood to increase the available supply. Visit OneBlood.org or RedCross.org/give-blood to schedule an appointment to donate blood.

ABOUT: Beds for Kids is an organization that provides beds and essential furniture to children and their families in need.

ABOUT: CharMeck Responds Coalition is a unified response to the COVID-19 crisis. New City Church is part of this network of churches through ForCLT, which is connected into the larger coordinated effort under the umbrella of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Emergency Management.

ABOUT: Roof Above provides support to Charlotte's homeless community.
NEED: Due to COVID-19, Roof Above has shut down their dining facilities and are handing out to-go meals. Many pre-bagged meals filled with prepackaged items are needed.
Roof Above has put together an Amazon Wish List of their greatest needs during the COVID-19 crisis. This list is updated daily to reflect current needs. You can purchase items from the list and have them sent directly to Roof Above. ABOUT: UP provides support for local youth with spiritual, academic, and social support to become Christian leaders who are determined to restore their communities.
NEED: Many of the UP street leaders are teens who help support their families. Also, many street leader parents will be affected by the economic impact of the service industry downturn. In response to the COVID-19 disruption, Urban Promise has opened a Family Stability Fund specifically to support the needs of Urban Promise students and families during this uncertain time.

ABOUT: CFK is a bridge organization that provides pathways to support youth in foster care.
NEED: CFK is preparing to re-start their Weekend Miracles Mentoring program, hopefully in July. When this face-to-face event is approved, masks will be needed to ensure the safety of all participants. If you have masks you can donate for youth and mentors, please contact Taylor@CFKnc.org.
NEED: To help in this trying time, CFK continues to collect gift cards for young adults who have recently aged out of foster care. They are specifically in need of Harris Teeter and Walmart gift cards. ABOUT: MHC is a central resource in the community where help and resources are provided to those in need.
NEED: MHC is in need of cleaning and disinfecting supplies, as well as monetary donations to help families who will need financial assistance in the coming weeks.
ABOUT: MFMC provides free, quality healthcare to low income, uninsured patients in Mecklenburg and Union Counties.
NEED: With many people losing their jobs during the COVID-19 crisis, request for services will increase. The clinic will need financial support to expand its services and meet the needs of its community.
