Thank you to everyone who donated to our hygiene bag collection. We collected over 450 bags that will be donated to Common Heart and Idlewild Elementary School families. We appreciate your generosity!
NC MedAssist is a nonprofit pharmacy providing access to lifesaving prescription medications, patient support, advocacy and related services to vulnerable and uninsured North Carolina residents. Click here for opportunities to volunteer with MedAssist. New City also has two 8 person shifts that we will fill this week. Hope Street Food Pantry needs volunteers to unpack and sort food. Hope Street feeds over 3500 people in the community on a monthly basis and with the increase in need, they are looking for help. Click here to learn more and sign up.

Churches across the city are uniting in prayer through the month of May. Individuals can join too! Sign up here for a prayer slot so we can cover the city in 24-7 Prayer.

FORCLT has been honored to build and lead the CharMeck Responds Coalition, bringing together local churches along with many other nonprofits and organizations to serve our community during these unprecedented times. The coalition of over 200 organizations has been working tirelessly to ensure no one in our city goes without, but even as the phased reopening begins, the needs are as great as ever. ABOUT: Common Heart is a grassroots organization in Union County that serves neighbors in need.
NEED: Common Heart has an emergency “on-call” system for delivery drivers and food pantry volunteers. In the event that a scheduled volunteer cancels, an on-call volunteer will be called to see if they are available to fill in, sometimes at the last minute. Click here to register to volunteer. When registering, check the box to indicate you are volunteering for community service and list New City Church in the “other” option. Once you’ve registered, you will be sent a link to list dates and times that you are available.
ABOUT: Friendship Trays delivers nutritious meals to elderly and infirm individuals in the Charlotte community who are unable to obtain or prepare their own meals.
NEED: You can help by purchasing items from their Amazon wish list. Items purchased from this wish list will be shipped directly to Friendship Trays.
ABOUT: An organization that helps equip Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools students in need.
NEED: Various opportunities to volunteer from home.
ABOUT: A distribution warehouse providing food to charitable organizations in the Charlotte Region.
NEED: Volunteers age 17 and older are needed to inspect, sort, and pack donated products so that they can be distributed to 700 partner agencies including homeless shelters, emergency pantries and soup kitchens.
ABOUT: An organization that provides outlets for people to get food.
NEED: Volunteers are needed in their warehouse and to stock the mobile pantry.

The American Red Cross faces a severe blood shortage due to an unprecedented number of blood drive cancellations during the coronavirus outbreak. Healthy individuals are needed to donate now to help patients counting on lifesaving blood, platelets or AB Elite plasma. The US Surgeon General has asked healthy adults to consider giving blood to increase the available supply. Visit OneBlood.org or RedCross.org/give-blood to schedule an appointment to donate blood.

ABOUT: Beds for Kids is an organization that provides beds and essential furniture to children and their families in need.
NEED: Beds for Kids is currently collecting face masks for their staff members and client families. If you are making face masks from home and have any extras you would like to donate, contact Beds for Kids at (980) 422-1192 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
ABOUT: Charlotte Responds Coalition is a unified response to the COVID-19 crisis. New City Church is part of this network of churches through ForCLT, which is connected into the larger coordinated effort under the umbrella of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Emergency Management.
NEED: Due to the critical shortage of Personal Protection Equipment for medical workers and first responders, the Charlotte Responds Coalition is collecting donations of needed items. If you have extra items you can spare, please consider donating to this coordinated effort.

ABOUT: Roof Above provides support to Charlotte's homeless community.
NEED: Due to COVID-19, Roof Above has shut down their dining facilities and are handing out to-go meals. Many pre-bagged meals filled with prepackaged items are needed.
Roof Above has put together an Amazon Wish List of their greatest needs during the COVID-19 crisis. This list is updated daily to reflect current needs. You can purchase items from the list and have them sent directly to Roof Above. You can find other ways to help on their website.

ABOUT: UP provides support for local youth with spiritual, academic, and social support to become Christian leaders who are determined to restore their communities.
NEED: Many of the UP street leaders are teens who help support their families. Also, many street leader parents will be affected by the economic impact of the service industry downturn. In response to the COVID-19 disruption, Urban Promise has opened a Family Stability Fund specifically to support the needs of Urban Promise students and families during this uncertain time.

ABOUT: CFK is a bridge organization that provides pathways to support youth in foster care.
NEED: To help in this trying time, CFK continues to collect gift cards for young adults who have recently aged out of foster care. They are specifically in need of Harris Teeter and Walmart gift cards. ABOUT: MHC is a central resource in the community where help and resources are provided to those in need.
NEED: MHC is in need of cleaning and disinfecting supplies, as well as monetary donations to help families who will need financial assistance in the coming weeks.
ABOUT: MFMC provides free, quality healthcare to low income, uninsured patients in Mecklenburg and Union Counties.
NEED: With many people losing their jobs during the COVID-19 crisis, request for services will increase. The clinic will need financial support to expand its services and meet the needs of its community.
