We want to give you an update about how New City is engaging in serving our region as we respond to the spread of COVID-19.
There is an urgent need for volunteers to help pack food for Second Harvest Food Bank. A team of New City volunteers served on April 2 and we will be sending another team on Thursday, April 9 from 1:00-4:00 pm. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age to participate. We also request that not only the volunteer be healthy, but everyone in his/her household be as well. Registration is required. Email email@example.com for a registration link.
If you are healthy and want a way to volunteer, below are some of the area’s most immediate needs. These opportunities fall under the category of essential services as defined within the Mecklenburg County Stay at Home Order:

New City Church is a part of a network of churches through ForCLT, which is connected into the larger coordinated effort under the umbrella of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Emergency Management. That office has asked the faith community and other non-profits to initially focus our efforts on ensuring that students are fed while schools are closed.
CMS has opened 69 feeding sites at schools throughout the district. Two of the sites are at our partner schools Idlewild Elementary and Greenway Park Elementary. We are actively working under the umbrella of the coordinated effort to meet this need. As more needs are identified and as we are asked to help, we will respond. If there is opportunity to serve as part of this coordinated effort, we will let you know.
Right now, the most effective response is giving to the larger coordinated effort. You can do that here through the ForCLT Coronavirus Response Fund.
