Mission: Charlotte 2023

Mission: Charlotte is entering its third year, and we want to invite you to join the team!

Designed as a local summer mission experience for high school students (those currently in 8th-12th grade), Mission: Charlotte 2023 provides a space for learning and growing as disciples of Christ, developing as leaders, using our gifts and skills to bless others, and having fun as a team. Through this mission, we also get to help further the work of New City in our local community.

Our Mission: Charlotte 2023 team will:

  • participate in 6 weeks of training, team-building, and preparation for the mission week
  • take ownership of planning and executing outreach activities (as a team) in the local community
  • spend four days "on mission"
  • debrief and celebrate together at the end of the mission week

Mission: Charlotte will once again focus on the Idlewild area and furthering New City's relationship at the Ashley Place apartment complex. This team will plan and execute a 3-day summer camp experience for kids in the community.

Note: Because Mission: Charlotte does require an investment of time throughout the summer, please review the dates and times below to ensure that you can be fully present and engaged. If you have any questions about the schedule, please contact Melissa Lewis.

KICK-OFF MEETING + LUNCH

Parents and students who have officially joined Mission: Charlotte 2023 will meet together on Sunday, June 4, 1:00–2:30 pm for kick-off and lunch together. This meeting will be held in Colony Café (W-11/12/13) at our SouthPark location.

TRAINING MEETINGS (PRE-MISSION)

Our student team will meet together for six pre-mission training meetings. Students are required to attend at least four of the six meetings as this time builds critically toward the mission week experience.

Training meetings are scheduled for Sundays, June 18 and 25, July 9, 16, 23, and 30, from 1:30–3:30 pm. These meetings will be held at the Matthews location.
