The New City English as a Second Language (ESL) program is gearing up for our fall 2022 term.
If you're interested in working with English language learners, consider joining our team of teachers/tutors. We work together to provide weekly interactive, engaging English lessons for our adult students while also building intentional relationships throughout the term.
For the fall, English classes will meet at New City Matthews on eight consecutive Wednesdays, August 31–October 19, from 7:00-8:30 pm. English teachers are asked to arrive at 6:30 pm to help prepare the space.
No prior ESL experience is required.
Contact New City Serve to learn more about teaching ESL with New City.
While classes meet, the adult students' children receive intentional childcare—including homework help, crafts, reading, games, etc.—from New City volunteers. If you're interested in helping make this a fun and meaningful time for the children, we welcome you to serve a couple of Wednesday evenings or on a weekly basis.
Contact Mikayla Nelson to sign up to serve with ESL childcare.
Note: If you would like to serve but need childcare for your own children, please let us know. They are welcome to be part of the childcare class provided for the students' children.
